Writer’s Love

Disclaimer: I do not know Toby Hemingway in any form shape or fashion. I am merely a fan of his work. Also, I do not own the scene from A Walk to Remember that got inspired from.

We had met in the most unnatural of ways. He’d spontaneously come into the local Starbucks, and I’d sat there typing away.

When I looked up I saw a blonde sitting in front of me,He was sipping his coffee like he had all the time in the world.

An eyebrow rose and he smiled back at me.

"My mates dared me to sit down here; I hope you don’t mind," he said, motioning with his head to his friends who were outside the window laughing hysterically. I shook my head. I smiled and went back to writing. It had always been a passion of mine. Just knowing that I can put whatever I want in writing, and people will feel it gets me giddy, though I never knew why.

"It’s okay, I needed a sudden inspiration for my story. So, what’s up," I asked, striking a conversation with the blonde.

"Not to much, what about you? Oh bugger, where are my manners, my name is Toby. What’s your name," Toby asked.

Smiling, I replied, "Same, and it’s okay, my name is Kay."

After that, for some odd reason, Toby kept showing up at the Starbucks and speaking with me. Though it always caused me to be curious, I never asked him why. It seemed as though he had become my muse, and I sure wasn’t complaining.

It had taken Toby a couple more meetings together before he finally asked me out. I remember Immediately saying yes. To this day I have never regretted the choice. On the date that night, he took me on a walk around the park, and then to dinner at a local Olive Garden.

We had been dating for almost a year now, and I’d never been happier. Though, tonight, as I was getting ready for our date, I couldn’t help but feel that something big was going to happen. I placed my sleek black dress on and put some earrings in my ears to add to the look. After I fixed my hair in an up-do, I walked downstairs to a ringing doorbell. My smile was wide as I opened the door. It fell slightly when it was just my editor. But, I smiled brightly nonethelessand let my editor into the house.

"Hey, what are you doing here," I asked. It probably wasn't a good idea to mention that I wasn't expecting him at my door.

Sighing, my editor replied, "Your book manuscript was supposed to be done by now, Kay. I don’t have all the time in the world, and I can’t take all the time out of my work schedule for you to waste trying to get you to finish this book."

I looked down at my shiny floor. I knew I’d been walking away from my responsibility. "I’m sorry, Caleb, I should have been more responsible," I tried to reason, but I knew it was useless.

Sighing, Caleb replied, "Look, I’m going to give you one month to finish the manuscript, but if it’s not done, but if it's not done by then, then I’m sorry, but then I won’t be able to publish your book."

Nodding, I saw Toby coming up the road as Caleb was leaving. When Toby made his way to the front door I greeted him with a kiss on the lips.

"Hey, baby," I murmured, gently messing up his hair.

"Hey, I need to talk to you," he replied, looking down into my brown eyes. Drawing my eyebrows together, I nodded, almost fearing what he had to say. Pulling him into the house, I closed the door behind him, and led him into the kitchen. Leaning against a counter, I motioned for him to begin talking.

As he was looking at me, Toby said, "I kind of got Reid’s role again in The Covenant 2, and production is going to be near Canada…"

"Toby, is that all it was? I was thinking you were breaking up with me! But congratulations, but how long will you be gone?"

"I don’t know, but probably at the least two months," he replied, thinking about it for a second. I nodded and walked over and hugged him.

"Well, at least you got the part, and I’m happy for you, but how will we see each other," I asked. I was so used to him being around me that I didn’t know what I was going to do without him.

After we talked a little bit more, Toby walked me out to his car. Opening the door for me like a gentleman, I settled into the seat as Toby started the car and took off. While he was driving with one hand on the steering wheel, and the other hand holding my hand, I couldn’t help but think of Caleb’s warning. ‘Well, at least while he is away, I can possibly get the book done…’ I thought to myself, silently praying to God that I’ll be able to finish the book in time. I suddenly felt something poking my left arm.

Looking, I saw that we had stopped at a red light and Toby looking at me with curiosity in his eyes.

"What are you thinking about," he asked, making me laugh a little at his British accent. Thinking to myself, I had to make a split decision on whether to tell him or not.

"Oh, it’s nothing. I’m just thinking on some stuff I need to do," I replied, thinking of how I wasn’t lying when I said that I had stuff I needed to do.

"If you were busy, you didn’t have to come out with me tonight, I could have hung out with some of my mates," he replied, looking at me with care. Smiling, I leaned over to kiss him. Getting further into the kiss, I started trying to pull him into my seat when we heard horns blaring behind us. Laughing, we looked to see the people in the two other cars looking pissed off. Letting him get back into the driver’s seat, I blushed at the public display of affection that had just occurred.

When we arrived at the park from our first date, and with me gushing over him actually remembering the place, and we began to walk around, I suddenly saw a lot of candles in a sort of oval shape around a blanket. Sitting down on the blanket, and him pulling out the wine, I looked p at the stars.

Handing me my drink, I saw him pull out another blanket. Giggling, he moved over to lie next to me. Pulling the blanket over us, I snuggled into his shoulder.

"So, I guess you’re trying to seduce me," I asked, smirking at him.

"I don’t know, are you easily seducible," he replied, looking down at me. Smacking his shoulder lightly, I looked back at the sky. Smiling at the twinkling stars slightly; I knew I could feel his eyes staring me down. "So are you," he asked.

"Am I what," I replied, looking at him in question.

"Seducible," he asked, and then he leaned down and started kissing my lips tenderly. Leaning into the kiss, I moaned slightly as he asked for entrance. Opening for him, we fought for dominance, with him eventually winning over me.

That night had been the most memorable night of my life. Just knowing how special he had went out for it, and how good it had felt; words cannot even say how I feel for what happened that night.

About a week later, Toby had to leave to start production on The Covenant Two, and though I miss him, I knew I had to finish the book. So, after he called to tell me he made it to the place, I immediately sat down at my laptop, and began typing. Not even thinking about what I was typing, when I finished typing for the day, I realized that I was close to finishing the book. Raising an eyebrow, I smiled and thought to myself, ‘Well, now I know how to get inspired…’ Smirking at the perverted – turned thought, I walked into the kitchen when I heard my phone begin ringing. Sighing loudly, I walked over to the charger and answered the phone.

"Hello," I asked, yawning silently to myself.

"Hello, Kay, this is Caleb. I just called to remind you that you have just two weeks left to finish the book," Caleb said. An eyebrow ticking, I thought over whether to yell, scream, or throw the phone against the wall, and laugh hysterically while he screamed at the boom in his ear. Shaking my head, I turned back to answer him.

"I know, Caleb, but thanks for reminding me. I actually have it almost done, I just want to add about two or three more chapters, and that won’t take to long," I replied, sighing in relief as I heard the click from the other side. Deciding I needed to clear my thoughts, I walked up the stairs to take a bath. I never knew why, but for some odd reason, baths always calmed my thoughts.

Grabbing some clothes, I walked into the bathroom across the hall and turned the water on. Setting to the just right temperature, I stripped down and got into the water. Settling into it, I closed my eyes to settle my thoughts and to go threw them. Immediately, my thoughts turned toward Toby and I couldn’t stop thinking about him, not that I minded though. My thoughts of him also turned to the more perverted side as I thought of what we’d done in this very bathtub not three days ago. It had felt so erotic; to feel him enter me as water pounded our backs… Shaking my head, I thought to myself, ‘Damn it, Kay, get your mind out of the fucking gutter! You’re acting like a hormone crazed teenager, and you’re not!’

After I finished my bath, I settled the towel snug against my body and walked out of the bathroom. Walking across the hall, I threw the towel on the bed when I remembered that I had taken clothes with me to the bathroom. Shrugging my shoulders, I walked across the hall in the nude and grabbed the clothes. Walking back across, I then started putting on undergarments. Fastening the bra and pulling the straps up, I then grabbed the tank top out of the pile of clothes from the bathroom. Putting it on, I then put on a pair of pajama pants. Feeling my hair, I decided to let it dry on its own, and I walked downstairs to watch some television. Settling into the comfortable love seat, I flipped the channels until I came to Family Guy. Laughing at Stewie, I let the show take some of my thoughts off of my love. It feels so awkward to use the L – word so soon, but I feel so genuine toward it, that it just comes to me like second nature, at least when it comes to Toby.

They had finished production on the movie, and Toby was finally coming home. My book had been finished months before, and I couldn’t be happier with the sales. Within the first week, I had sold so many more copies than my other books, and I couldn’t have done it without the help of my muse, though he doesn’t know that the book was published yet, so I have a special surprise for him for when he arrives here at the house. Seeing an unfamiliar Nissan 350 Z Coupe pull into my driveway, I tried to look conspicuously but with no avail. Seeing the door open, I ran to the door without seeing who it was.

Hoping it was Toby; I waited two rings before opening the door.

Standing there looking fine as ever in his British glory was Toby. Smiling, I jumped on him, my legs wrapping around his waist, and me giving him the most passionate kiss I could ever dream of giving.

"I missed you so much," we said simultaneously, and then we began laughing at it. Jumping off of him, I pulled him into the house with little effort. Leading him into the kitchen, I let him sit down. Pulling out a wrapped gift, I handed it to him.

"I know you didn’t want a present, but I just had to give this to you," I said, interrupting him before he had a chance to say that he didn’t want it. Sighing dramatically, Toby began peeling the wrapping paper off. When he finished, I smiled as he looked up at me curiously. "Read who it’s written for," I said, not remembering what that page was called. Opening to the page, I saw him look over it for a second before turning back to me.

"You said your book was for me," he asked, sounding astonished at the act. Smiling, I nodded happily, and decided to tell him the other part of the surprise.

A twinkle appearing in his eyes, I smiled and said, "Not only that, but that also happens to be the original copy of the book, before the copies were made and stuff." His eyes widening, I was suddenly embraced by a happy looking Toby.

Kissing my cheek, he kept murmuring, "Thank you, thank you." Running my fingers through his hair, I started pulling him toward the living room. I leaned into the much-needed kiss and started pulling off his jacket that he had yet to remove. Removing it, I threw it somewhere in the room, not caring at the moment. I felt him pulling at my shirt. We came up for air as he removed my shirt. Smirking, I pulled him down for another kiss, this time pulling at his belt. The belt was not coming off fast enough! I started pulling him with the belt toward the couch. Lying down on it, I finally got the belt off, and it couldn’t come off fast enough.

Unclasping my bra, he threw it to somewhere. Feeling exposed, though there was no need, I blushed as he looked down at me. Leaning down once more, he began to kiss down my jaw. Moaning with need, I pulled at his shirt. Pulling it over his head, I leaned up to kiss his lips once more. Puling at the button on his pants, I finally got it unclasped. Pulling the zipper, I pushed the pants down. Leaning up, I pushed him down to the other side of the couch as I straddled him. Catching his lips in a kiss, I immediately accepted, and we held a battle, him winning over once more. Teasing, I let up from the kiss, and smirked down at Toby. Moving my hips a little, I smirked seductively as I heard a moan emit from him.

Gasping for air, I settled myself into his shoulder, content for the moment.

"Baby, that was great," Toby murmured into my hair, and I knew he felt me smile into his arm. Feeling kisses down my neck, I turned toward him to say something when he caught my lips in a kiss. Kissing back, my mind temporarily lapsed in thought as I forgot everything except the moment. Feeling him pull away from the kiss, I felt him slip from the couch. Looking at him curiously, I opened my mouth in shock as I saw him get on one knee.

"Are you serious," I asked, tears forming from my eyes. Smiling up at me, he nodded, and pulled a small velvet box from his pants that were conveniently lying right there. Looking back up at me, I sat up as I saw him begin to speak.

"Kay, I know I’m probably leading into this way to soon, but I know that I want to spend hopefully the rest of my life with you," he began, and he then began to open the box. Inside, there was a petite looking ring with a diamond snugly fit into the middle of it. Laughing, I waited for him to finish.

"So, Kay Marie Finley, will you marry me," Toby asked, looking me in the eyes the entire time. Nodding enthusiastically, I embraced him enthusiastically and kissed him over and over again. Picking me up, I felt him slip the ring onto my ring finger with great care.

So, you may be wondering how this love story ended, right? Well, let’s just say that right now, I have a kid with blond roots bugging the hell out of me, and another blond that can’t wait to get me away from this laptop…
